Emjoi AP-10L Light Caress, Corded
I have used the Emjoi AP99 Optima for years. The last time I ordered a hair remover I purchased the AP-10L. I was very disappointed in it compared to the AP99 Optima by Emjoi. The AP-10L does not remove hair from legs or underarms nearly as well as it should in my opinion.

I'm a 90s epilator gal so, as many have already experienced I was so done with that experience. I went back to shaving and then over the past year I switched to salon waxing. This was expensive and time consuming.
I considered lazer electrolysis but couldn't quite rationalize the expense. My friend told me to give the new epilators a try and I thought she was nuts. After 3 months of attempting home waxing I was ready to do some research.
This model is ranked highly by the majority of sites I visited. I now own it and I agree with why it is ranked so high. Yes, it is painful initially (no more than tweezing or waxing) and yes, it can still be time consuming (but I don't need to leave my house). However, my legs feel as great as when I would leave the salon and although I tend to touch up more often I can go at least 2 weeks without epilating.
PROs:
The best thing is the price. It cost me less than 2 salon visits. It has a lot of power, it's about as noisy as my husbands electric razor (I read that it was very loud) and the light really does it's job.
CONs:
The "massaging finger" attachment doesn't seem to do much so, I don't use it.

This is the best epilator I have ever used. I followed the instructions and used it after showering and using the loofah pad included. You don't need to put any pressure just place against the skin and go in the direction of the hair and you'll get most of the hair your first try, as long as it's long enough. For any remaining hair, I went over it again moving it in a circular motion - the spotlight helps with any missed hairs. There are also to speeds for different hair thicknesses - 1.Fine hair 2. Coarse hair.
I have used it on my legs, face, forearms and underarms. I didn't find it too painful on my legs, but it was very painful in more sensitive areas. The hair on my forearms is a little longer, so I shaved it first and then used the Emjoi when it started growing back to make it less painful (there's less pulling). I use the Emjoi every few days to remove any growing stray hairs - this definitely makes the process less painful, doing a little at a time instead of the entire area at one time.
Like others have said it is very painful, but you will get used to it after a while. If tweezing is too painful for you, then you may not want to use this product or any other type of epilator. The only difference is with this you'll pull a lot of hair out at one time, instead of one hair at a time - so it is quicker and saves time.

I have shaved my legs all my adult life...once using a chemical hair remover, I hate the smell and it made my sensitive legs break out in an awful rash. So, I was really unsure of what to expect with this epilator. On the other hand - I am one of the unlucky gals who shaves and 5 hours later has stubble. Ew! I bit the bullet and ordered the emjoi epliator.
I opened the package as soon as it came and plugged this little wonder in. I will not beat around the bush...it hurts. However, the pain only lasts as long as the thing is yanking out your hair...then it's over. I took many breaks, and it took me about 2 hours to do both legs from ankle to knee. Whew...Maybe I will tackle the thighs tomorrow. Now, about an hour later the redness is less and my legs are smooth!
I look forward using this again in a few days to see how the pain compares...I hear it lessens each time :) Good...
I'd say it's worth the money!
***UPDATE***
I have now owned this product for about a month. I was optimistic in the beginning, however my enthusiasm has lessened over time. I dealt with about a weeks worth of ingrown hairs. I was exfoliating each day - but stil had them. Then I began to use a simple solution - witch hazel. I found this near the rubbing alcohol in the pharmacy. In any case, just dampen a cloth and smooth over legs - problem solved. Ok, one thing down. The next problem is the "stubbly" feeling. I figured this would eventually go away as I got more and more hair. Well, nope. Even after an hour long session of running this over and over and over, I will still feel little hairs. Oh well, I can deal with that...
Oh yea, by the way the pain does get easier. Just the 2nd time I used it - it was so much better. Now I barely notice. I do use it about every other day, though.
So I orginally rated this product with 4 stars, I am bumping that down to 3 stars. I like that I only have to use this every other day, I like that there are no big long pokey hairs. I DISLIKE that I don't really have SMOOTH legs - so take this with a grain of salt!! It's good, but not great.
